coaching

By creating a safe, confidential space, and asking open-ended questions, life coaching gives permission to the parts of you that already know what you want and what the next right step is. Then coaching supports you in staying true to that knowledge. It’s also powerfully combines nurturing support with externalized responsibility.

I did my training in 2007 and have since helped people with career changes, time management, new babies, new jobs, books that needed writing, homework that was behind schedule, and a number of creative dreams that wanted to be realized.

It works best if we both feel awesome about it, so the first step is to see how we feel.  The first call is free and I can help you figure out whether coaching is the right modality for you, and whether I’m the right coach for you. You can suggest a good time by emailing

Please put "coaching" in the title so I recognize it

Themes I’ve worked with

Academia

perfectionism

writing more efficiently

overcoming writer's block

"recovering" from Harvard and the like

recovering from pleasing

academia vs. more vocational schooling

Ambition that feels great

Having a "calling"

Staying on-track

Dealing with doubts

Fostering forward momentum and progress

Ambition that feels horrible

Being too busy, especially not having enough time for your kids, your partner and yourself

Being driven by lack of self-worth

The pain of competitive-ness, jealousy, and narcissism

Dealing with the unfocussed-ness of being good at too many things

Meditation / Spirituality

finding that spot that feels like home, self, Truth, abundance, safety

finding flow and synchronicity, joy and wonder

I can adapt to any spiritual or non-spiritual language you like

De-cluttering & re-decorating

I love providing hands-on support around house decorating and/or decluttering. It's one of my favorite things to do.

Other forms of clutter we can streamline on the phone, like social clutter and time clutter.

Conquering subtle addictions

Addictions are ways of dealing with pain, so if they are to be given up, a better coping and living strategy is needed. Coaching doesn't replace regular addiction treatment, but I'm interested in some of the subtler ways that people stay in patterns, like putting too much emphasis on romantic relationships, being vague around money to the point of constant anxiety, workaholism, self-sabotage

Accepting Your Sexuality

Understanding what you want

Accepting your desires

Asking for what you want

How big a deal to make out of it (is it something you do in the bedroom or is it an identity?)

Sexuality in flux (when identity changes)

I did my Masters Degree in Health Communication around stigma and sexual minority health, focusing on people who are kinky, but drawing on a wide range of resources from all different sexualities.

Healing Relationships

This isn’t my specialty, but it frequently comes up, and I we might explore it or I’ll refer you to a good couples or family coach or other modality.

Self-expression & Finding Your Power

autobiography

conquering shame

Finding your truth, your desire, your voice, your vision

tapping into intuition

Growing up 101

getting the most out of school (I wish I had had a coach while I was in college!)

discovering what you want

being true to what you want

differentiating from your parents

learning good habits
